2 pages of 48 – from a book that I painted with two brush strokes, red on one side, jet black Sumi ink on the other. The accordion book unfolds to one long panel approx. 24 feet. Knowing when to strike a brush mark is like knowing which wave to catch when surfing. Not all waves are best as not all moments are optimal for one breath, one stroke painting. Trite but true – timing is everything.
Each year a new book is created, carried to and fro the studio as it becomes a diary of the work created during the year. At the end of the year, it’s gifted to my primary patron.
